DALLAS, May 23, 2016 – Allstate Insurance Company and the Tom Joyner Foundation will be presenting a check for $50,000 to Grambling State University as part of the annual Allstate Quotes for Education program, designed to help raise money for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Grambling State University, located in Grambling, LA, won the Allstate Quotes for Education fan vote for ‘school pride’ component of the program, and will receive the $50,000 donation from Allstate for student scholarships. Fifty students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Tom Joyner, founder and chairman of the Tom Joyner Foundation, announced the donation on his nationally syndicated morning radio show. “I’m so proud of my Grambling Tigers,” Joyner said. “They rallied their students, faculty, alumni and friends to support their cause. Thanks to Allstate for supporting my HBCUs!”

For five years, Allstate and the Tom Joyner Foundation have joined together to engage students, alumni and supporters of HBCUs across the country to raise scholarship funds through the Allstate Quotes for Education program. For every person who received an insurance quote from a participating Allstate agent between August 1 and Nov. 30, 2015, and mentioned “Quotes for Education,” Allstate donated $10 -for a total donation of $200,000 – a record amount for the program! These funds will be donated to the Tom Joyner Foundation and earmarked for general scholarship funds to assist students attending HBCUs.

For the fourth year of the program, HBCU students, alumni, and supporters also had a chance to vote for the HBCU of their choice to receive an additional $50,000 donation for scholarships. This year, as announced above, Grambling State University fans showed the most ‘school pride’ by voting online for their favorite HBCU. Grambling State University supporters employed social media tools, as well as word-of-mouth networking, to successfully engage alumni, students, faculty and staff in the fan vote campaign.

The Quotes for Education program is part of Allstate’s ongoing commitment to create, support and sponsor programs that empower the African American community. Other initiatives include Allstate’s title sponsorship of the Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion (for the past 12 years), Allstate’s Give It Up For Good national campaign, launched in 2013, and more.
