Twenty-five years ago today, Michael Jackson released “Bad,” his seventh studio album. The album didn’t sell as much as its historic predecessor “Thriller” (no album in history ever has), but it’s five singles all went #1 including “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Man in the Mirror” and “Dirty Diana.” As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, Spike Lee has directed a documentary, “Bad 25”, airing on ABC in November and a remastered 3 CD, 1 DVD box set version of the album with a bonus DVD and other features including a live concert from a 1988 concert at Wembley Stadium in London that is out now.

BET is adding to the celebration with its own special, in partnership with Sony Music and the Michael Jackson Estate. “BET Presents: BAD 25 – The Short Films of Michael Jackson,” airs on BET at 8 p.m. on September 18th. All the videos released from “Bad” will air in the original order they were on the album .The special will present the videos in the original track order of the album: “Bad,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Speed Demon,” “Liberian Girl,” “Another Part of Me,” “Man in the Mirror,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” “Dirty Diana,” “Smooth Criminal,” and “Leave Me Alone.”

BET’s two-hour special hosted by Stephen G. Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials will include interviews with luminaries who remember or were impacted by “Bad” including Ne-Yo, Ashanti, Michael Eric Dyson, rapper A$AP Rocky, Beverly Johnson, comedian Affion Crockett, Al Sharpton, and MC Lyte. The special will cover the overall impact of “Bad” on pop culture, media and even the politics of the time. Jackson, who died at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009, was one of music’s most prolific and beloved recording artists. His most famous recording, “Thriller” the top-selling album in music history, was also re-released on its 25th anniversary.
