Actress Tasha Smith is having a pretty good year.

She’s reprised her role in the “Why Did I Get Married” movies, coming back as sassy as ever portraying the acid-tongued Angela in the sequel. And if you saw “Why Did I Get Married Too?” you saw that it looks like a third movie is in the making, so there will be more Angela in future. In real life, Smith has also found love and will again host, “My Black Is Beautiful” on BET this spring. (Check local listings for exact airtimes.)

But given her difficult past growing up hard in the mean streets of Camden, N.J., for Smith, real success means giving back. She’s founded the Tasha Smith Acting Workshop in Los Angeles and is bringing it on the road this summer. Actor Lance Gross of “House of Payne” fame was discovered in Smith’s class, so for thespians looking to sharpen their skills, its money well spent.

Smith’s dream of becoming an actress, despite her unlikely circumstances, was nurtured by others, like her good friend Tisha Campbell, who was a mentor for her when Smith made the move to Los Angeles. Smith, 39, wants to make the dream that sustained her possible for others because it was what kept her on track when times were difficult.

“Back in the day, it was a vision. It was a passion. It seemed like a dream that was too far-fetched to happen,” Smith says of her acting aspirations. “It’s so big, it would take a miracle for it to really happen. That’s what it felt like, and that’s why I encourage people to dream and to pursue your dreams - because they really do come true. See your future through your faith, not your circumstance.”

Smith's acting Workshops will take place in the following cities on these dates:

• Miami, Florida – June 11 - 13

• New York, NY – June 25 – 27

• Washington, D.C. – July 23 – 25

• Atlanta, Georgia – August 13- 15 (for kids August 14- 15)

Look for Houston and Chicago dates to come soon, and registration is available at www.tsaw.com.

If you show your “Why Did I Get Married Too?” ticket stub, you will get $25 off an acting workshop or class. Classes are taught in the Ivana Chubbuck technique.
